About private maths tuition
Face-to-face tuition is usually more effective than online, but requires travel, and so depends on finding a tutor close enough to where you live.
However. online tuition for A level and above works well, and is more convenient, avoiding the need to travel. I use zoom for online lessons, and many of my past students have achieved success.
I have been tutoring for over 15 years, drawing on a classroom teaching career of over 30 years. I have been a Head of Maths in three schools, and currently write and mark maths papers for OCR. I've also written curriculum materials in
maths.
Having a lot of classroom experience means that I can cover any aspect of maths content without needing to prepare. My first question in lessons is 'what would you like to talk about today? My examining experience also means I can often make up suitable questions on the spot.
On the other hand, it does help to think about what topics you need help with, and, even better, have some problems you would like to go through. And in the end I can only go some way to helping you achieve success - most of this down to you and hard work!

How much does it cost?
For online tuition, I charge £45 per hour for A level and £60 for University level. I offer a free introductory session.
The same charges apply for face-to-face tuition, but if you want me to come to you I add a small charge to cover travel time and costs (usually a fiver.
